this anime has something special. I dont fully understand the story at this point, but every episode is so chill and interesting. Probably the most underrated anime this season.
"This emotion is mine alone.
It is for Madoka alone." - Homura
or how I would descripe Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.
lots of details, unclear who's honest & what's relevant.
Lotta job is landlord i thought. She also sends monthly reports (spying?) with gifts to a faceless owner (of wut?). Apparently owner is either Grossuler or a 3rd party boss Nino works for in secret, ooh double agent potential.
Suitsu nation/district, differences in regions are interesting but that place sucks. It's like edo period isolationist Japan, and the coup could be like attempting Meiji restoration on a small scale.
Jean's cigarettes contain hidden message? Or just bribing tool? He's still lying about resignation rejected, or acca's ignoring his request? We see more of his power influence, able to free the whole coup crowd.
Lots of unclear politics with Beurre & fancy blondie from the 5 member, both nobles with different origins, but sharing Suitsu. Strange Beurre needs to lie visiting his hometown.
This is my favourite show this season, but I'm not going to lie: this is the first episode so far that was just unambiguously disappointing. Most of it was cryptic exposition about only one of thirteen districts, interspersed with some confusing "action" scenes detailing a coup attempt that wasn't well-explained or established as well as some remarks about political corruption and manipulation. I found it hard to care about anything that was happening, which makes me sad because the first three episodes were so good at drawing me into the setting and making me speculate about the direction the show was going in.
I'm hoping that this episode will be an outlier in what will otherwise be an impeccable political drama, but I almost feel like this is the beginning of a trend. Of course, I'll be the first to call myself out if it doesn't happen. But I can't help but feel like its only down from here.
5/10 for the episode.
And what if all love is an act of bravery?
Could you look me in the eye and say that you are not afraid?
The coup fired-up a little bit but was stopped because the leaders!
But Jean said to release all that was arrested for the condition not to mention the coup.
3/5.
Jean is so blasé that it's kind of stupid and boring at times. I wanted him to squirm a bit more. This is why aloof MCs tend to bore me. I also hate it when they overreact. It's hard to find that balance.
I like his nickname, Biscuit.
I'm glad Jean decided not to report them. He's awesome in that sense although his impassive-looking face kind irks me at times
I have to say, this anime really know how to suck you in. The storytelling is on point with no boring parts at all despite how chill this show is. That goes from the 1st episode and it's still only the 4th out of 12 so far.
. . . . . ✘ . . . . . DO NOT touch my rice. . . . . .
I'm Asian. . . . . .
Niino I swear lmao he's everywhere Jean is (and for a good reason but still I dig how he sticks close to Jean with that "you can't see me I am John Cena" attitude)
Gah I love ACCA and Jean is such a good MC. Normally I dislike smokers but Jean is an exception (despite smoking being such a distinct trait of his. Ah I guess I will let it slide given how he interacts with everyone and his actions) Also like his sis.
The way they attacked the district house and the ACCA people being there kind of reminds me of the Boston Massacare. I don't know if it's meant to be kind of like that, but that's what I thought it of.
This episode definitely shows how clever Jean is. That last scene though, something is up with the cigarrates man. What a clever as hell anime.
Damn prince people following the imouto.
WTF! How you just gonna come up to someone and ask them if you could touch their stuff? Just because you say "Hey" doesn't mean shit.
lol at Warbler.
lol at Nino hiding his identity when saving Jean.
Warbler got a woman.
If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).
You can't expect someone not to tell everyone else about that coup
I mean someone should be bound to accidentally see that.. sooner or later
Gotta love anime logic :P
Suitsu definitely seemed shitty enough for them to want change, and man must I say I like the character designs a lot in this show, they're all just so sleek and elegant
“I love heroes, but I don't want to be one. Do you even know what a hero is!? For example, you have some meat. Pirates will feast on the meat, but the hero will distribute it among the people! I want to eat the meat!” - Monkey D. Luffy
Wow. Their world sure is fascinating, I'm loving it. Jean smoking sure is a big thing in their world, it's funny, really. Their coup d'état was so evidently going to fall apart that Jean didn't even drop a sweat, just calmly sat. Great episode.
Not only Jean, but everyone here is suspicious. Nino, Groshular, Lilium, even Lotta looked suspicious to me. Don't know who's right, wrong, or there's actually nothing wrong? all have their own purpose. But of course what intrigued me the most is Jean, especially his calm attitude towards things and what this had to do with his cigarettes.. like what Nino always said, "Jean will be accepting another cigarette tonight"
Watched this episode yesterday, and this is where it finally started getting interesting for me. Before this I was like, 'hm, I don't care about anything going on and I don't see why I should- what's the point here?..' I liked the coup story and I find the stuff going on with Nino really interesting.
Otus is now seeing the districts in a different light now that he's aware of the coup and how the local people are suffering. It seems that not every district is thriving and some are struggling more than others. I'm pretty sure I saw Niino disguised as a local during the coup. I think Otus might discover him soon.
